What I love about air fryer pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds in the air fryer are delicious! Making homemade pumpkin seeds was new to me and let me tell you, I was missing out! They are delightfully crispy and airy, and full of flavor. Letting the seeds dry is what took the most time, but it was totally worth the wait.

How to make air fryer pumpkin seeds

You will want to clean the pumpkin seeds. I rinsed mine in a colander under warm water while stirring them with my hands, and removing larger pieces of pulp to start. Continuing to manually remove the pulp pieces until the seeds were as clean as they would get.

I soaked the pumpkin seeds for about 1 hour in warm water with 1 tbsp of salt. I had read somewhere that this helps if you have a sensitive stomach and thought the salt water would probably act like a brine as well. Then I towel dried the seeds and let them sit on the counter for about 2 hours.

Melt your butter in a mixing bowl, then add your worcestershire sauce. Add the pumpkin seeds and seasings to the bowl and mix until all the seeds are coated evenly.

Preheat the air fryer to 360˚F. Add the pumpkin seeds and fry for 5 minutes. Shake the basket to rotate the seeds and roast for another 5 -6 minutes. If you like them a little crispier, then go for about a total of 12 minutes. Allow to cool a bit before serving, but I love them toasty warm!

FAQs and tips on roasting pumpkin seeds in the air fryer

Why are pumpkin seeds bad for you?

They are definitely not bad for you, they do contain a lot of fiber which is why people who have a sensitive stomach can be bothered by them. Soaking them in water before roasting them can really help with digestion.

How do you air dry pumpkin seeds?

After you clean the seeds you really just want to lay them out on a kitchen towel, paper towels will stick to the seeds. I let them lay on the towel for a couple hours for drying and they did stick to the towel slightly but this way no paper was stuck to the seeds.

How long do pumpkin seeds need to dry?

You really don’t have to let them dry for a full two hours, an hour should probably be enough. Keep in mind, this may affect the roasting time because the first minute or two will be the seeds drying first.
