Why these air fryer tomatoes are the best

Air fryer tomatoes are a simple and quick way to enjoy the savory flavor that comes from a roasted tomato. Tossed in Italian seasonings and roasted, they turn out juicy and flavorful. These tomatoes are great on their own, but they add a depth of flavor to a caprese salad or a roasted tomato pasta sauce that can’t be beat!

You can substitute different types of tomatoes if you prefer, any other small tomato, like a grape tomato should cook around the same time. If you are going to roast a larger tomato, slice them to about ½ inch thick and adjust the cooking time to 7-8 minutes. Using the larger tomatoes, like a plum tomato is great for adding to a burger.

How to make air fryer roasted tomatoes

Prep your tomatoes. Cut the tomatoes in half, whichever direction you prefer. Add tomatoes, oil and seasonings to a mixing bowl and stir until all the tomatoes are well coated.

Preheat air fryer to 400˚F. Add the tomatoes to the cooking basket and roast for 9-10 minutes. You will not need to flip or stir the tomatoes. Allow the tomatoes to cool slightly before removing them.

Tips for making roasted cherry tomatoes

Do you have to core tomatoes before roasting?

You do not have to core the tomatoes before roasting them in the air fryer. I would make sure you cut the tomatoes in half before roasting them so some of the juice are able to be cooked out.

Can you put parchment paper in an air fryer?

Parchment paper is safe for inside of the air fryer. If you want to lay a piece down before roasting the tomatoes make sure there is still open area for the air to flow through. I did not use anything to help with clean-up and my air fryer clean basket cleaned out super easily.

How long can you store roasted cherry tomatoes?

You can keep these stored in an airtight container in your refrigerator for 7-10 days.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp coarse salt
  • ½ tsp dried garlic
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir to combine
  2. Preheat air fryer to 400˚F.
  3. Roast tomatoes in air fryer for 8-10 minutes, working in batches if necessary. Do not over crowd the basket.
  4. Gently remove tomatoes with tongs.
