What’s great about this ambrosia fruit salad

  • This recipe really resonates with vintage holiday memories. If this was served at holiday gatherings when you grew up, you know you looked forward to having this classic dish.
  • You really don’t need to many culinary skills to put this recipe together, it’s easy to whip up and you can easily substitute different fruits. This is absolutely a fuss free recipe.
  • It’s totally up to you whether you serve this refreshing fruit salad as a light dessert or a sweet side dish. I love putting it out for holiday gatherings as a side and keeping it out for dessert, sometimes you’ll have a guest or two that opt for this over pie after a big holiday feast since it’s a lighter option.

How to make this fruit cocktail salad with cool whip

Combine ingredients. Add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl. Gently fold with a rubber spatula until fruits have been well coated with whipped topping. Don’t over mix, being extra gentle with mixing will prevent the cool whip from loosing it’s fluffy air-like texture.

Chill and serve. You can serve this dish right away, but I like to let it chill for about an hour in the fridge so the fruit and marshmallows can macerate. The juices from the fruit will soften the marshmallows just slightly allowing the marshmallow flavor to seep into the cool whip.
